Impulso Tarapacá, an initiative by Collahuasi: we give the boost together

Collahuasi, much more than copper. We give the boost together. Aerial view of Iquique at sunset.

The weather front left its mark on our region, which is why we are reactivating Impulso Tarapacá, with concrete actions in four areas:

01

Health

Recovery of the infrastructure of four Primary Care Centers in Iquique and Alto Hospicio.

02

Street improvements

Pothole repair on the main arterial roads of Iquique.

03

Critical infrastructure

Improvements and refurbishment of facilities at the El Loa border complex.

04

Paseo Baquedano

Restoration of sidewalks in this heritage area.

The plan

When Tarapacá faces a difficult situation, acting promptly and in a coordinated way can make a difference

With that purpose, Compañía Minera Doña Inés de Collahuasi has reactivated “Impulso Tarapacá”, an extraordinary plan that previously helped provide support and solutions in other local emergencies.

This time, the plan seeks to make a concrete contribution to recovering infrastructure and essential spaces affected by the recent frontal system in August 2026, especially in Iquique and Alto Hospicio.

Although the four areas —health, street improvements, critical infrastructure and Paseo Baquedano— will be addressed simultaneously, the works at the Family Health Centers (Cesfam) in both municipalities are a priority, as they are essential facilities for the community.

The primary health care centers to be worked on are:

  • Iquique Cirujano Videla
  • Iquique Sur
  • Alto Hospicio Dr. Pedro Pulgar
  • Alto Hospicio Dr. Héctor Reyno

“Impulso Tarapacá” is carried out through specialized companies from the region. The plan is managed by Fundación Collahuasi, in coordination with the authorities and competent agencies.

Recovering Tarapacá is a task that requires joining efforts, turning capabilities into solutions and moving with a sense of urgency toward what communities need.
